
Monique currently conducts research at the National Institute of Citizen Science (Brazil) and the Faculty of Public Health (USP). She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in open science at Unicamp, with a research stay at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Prior to her academic career, she worked as a science reporter for 15 years at major Brazilian news outlets, including Folha de S.Paulo and Globo. Her academic credentials include dual bachelor’s degrees in social sciences and journalism, a master’s degree in science communication, and a PhD. in Sciences (University of São Paulo).
Her scholarly work examines the intersections of Citizen Science, Epistemology of Science, Post-Colonial Studies, Science Technology and Society Studies (STS), Public Communication of Science, and Health Promotion.
She formerly served as co-director of RedeComCiência (Brazilian Network of Science Journalists and Communicators) for the 2022-2024 term and maintains active membership in several professional organizations (PCST, 4S, Abrasco, RBCC, and Esocite).
